I LOVE STORIES!

I was born in Trondheim, a place in Norway where there is a lot of light in the summer and hardly any in the winter.

As a little girl I wanted to be a writer, an actress, a gardener, a sailor, or an accordionist. Stories were my big love. Making them up, reading them, acting them out. They would take me to other worlds.

I imagined sailing to far away places, sitting around camp fires, playing the accordion, and telling stories. I’m not sure where gardening fits into this scenario, but these were the things I wanted to do.

So I left Norway, moved to London and became an actress. I found people like me and together we improvised stories and shaped them into plays. Then we packed our musical instruments and costumes into a van and went on tour to perform for people in prisons, homeless shelters, refugee centers, and in theaters in the UK and in Norway.

This was my life for more than fifteen years.

Then one night I performed my last play, Spoonface Steinberg, a wonderful monologue about a young autistic girl who perceived the light at the center of all things.

Some of the lines from this play never left me. It was as if this girl did not want to leave me alone. And so one day I sat down and listened to her, and started taking notes, and This Is All He Asks of You was born.

The writing began in Takoma Park, a sweet little town near Washington DC, and finished in San Diego, where I live now. Here I swim with seals in the Pacific Ocean and gaze at the pelicans flying over my house every day.

California is also the place where I became a professional coach, and started helping people bring forth more of who they truly are. My clients often miss a “spark” in their lives, and together we explore their stories and open new narratives and new possibilities.

Looking at how we embody our stories is an important part for me. I am fascinated by the wordless stories our bodies tell, and I pay attention to and listen to the things we say to each other without words.

I love stories. I love the stories told by books.
I love the stories told by the wind, the rain and the leaves.
I love the stories told through the eyes of animals.
And I am really curious about what remains when all stories fall away.
